Burnt out? Start yourself back up with Awaken organic teas.

here is a quick mock up of my tea packaging idea. Flaps which form matchsticks when closed, also keep light from entering and harming the individually cello-wrapped biodegradable pouches. The paper texture framing the pictures is the "hemp" paper that the interior box will be made of which is actually the pulpy stuff I experimented on, and showed in a previous blog. This is the peppermint tea packaging and will probably make orange and blue paper of this similar tint for my blueberry and Peach teas. Not sure how this matchbox theme Idea works for my packaging...in reality I'm using more material than that of just a simply box. In reality the most sustainable packaging would be a hemp paper bag with loose leaf tea but I think this is more interesting and the individual bags are more convenient...?

How to re-purpose my tea "matchbox"...?

Not real sure how to re-purpose my packaging. Since the project started I've been thinking of making all my ideas either become a flower pot or desk container for paper clips, tacks, push pins, ...etc.

Final Logo Refinement

In order to preserve the logos simplicity in at small scale I simplified my rooster by getting rid of unnecessary detail that would only get lost as the size got smaller.

match box packaging

I decided to go with my "match box" idea for the packaging instead of the egg carton but utilize the same principles of the paper pulp for the box material in the inside. I might make my own paper to have the desired texture and color I want. Using this pulp. You can blend whatever color papers you want and add dried onion peal, grass, leaves...etc and make your own paper. You just add glue to the pulp you blend up and pour out into a frame (whatever size paper you need) and let dry. You can use an iron to flatten it out (hot press paper or cold press) to get the desired smoothness.

My experiment with paper pulp...

my attempt at covering my mock up with the pulp stuff I made in blender. Think I can make it work by covering something already made or making actual paper and folding up into something. This doesn't look that great here, kinda messy, still wet, and with only one coat.

making the pulp

I cut green construction paper and newsprint up and put in blender.

my tea "match box" mockup #1

egg carton idea / mock up

For my packaging I am going for a convenience of the individually wrapped tea bags but am going to use plastic film which dissolves in water to protect the individual bags along with all biodegradable products to make the packaging. This will probably be hemp or bamboo pulp container/paper, and vegetable or soy inks. The Idea for my packaging is to make a container similar to an egg carton with slip around it to protect the product from tamper along with giving me a place to print label info. This will be able to be re-used as a plant pot or container to hold things like paper-clips, tacks, nails...etc. The second Idea is very similar but packaging would be similar to a large match-box and possibly mock an actual matchbox. To make the mock ups of these I found information on how to make paper-pulp. By putting cutting up pieces of paper in a blender with water and glue. With this I will attempt to either make a mold or "paint" on to the mock-ups I made so they resemble a hemp product as seen by my haggard greenish covered egg carton? Just experimenting.
